Under the nose and above the chin is where the teeth are found, but what else do you know about these things that you have at some stage of your life? You’ll soon find everything you need to know about teeth here. Teeth are designed differently as each comes with a purpose. Your incisors are the ones that grow in front. They are used to push food in and they are also the sharpest. What you find near the corner of your mouth are what you call canine teeth. When it comes to tearing or grasping food, these teeth with long roots function well. Premolars crush food using their flat chewing surfaces and they are the ones found right behind the canines. In contrast to premolars, the molars have bigger and flatter surfaces and sizes than them. These are assigned to break down food to the tiniest pieces possible.

The crown of a tooth as well as its root define the composition of a tooth. The crown is the one you see when you open your mouth, while the root is the one that hides below the gums and constitutes around 66 percent of the length of the tooth. A distinct kind of tissue makes up every single one of our teeth. Frequent chewing causes the natural wear and tear of teeth and the enamel protects the teeth from this. The yellowish bone-like matter that contains nerve fibers and supports the enamel is the dentin. At the very core of the tooth is where the pulp is, and it also protects the blood, lymph vessels and nerves.

Each tooth has a pulp which transmit messages to the brain and ensures that the tooth get enough nourishment as well. The part that serves as covering and connector to the jaw bones is known as the cementum. Connecting the jawbone and cementum is a cushioning layer known as the periodontal ligament.

Even as we know how popular braces are as orthodontic treatments, do you know how they work exactly? Apart from giving you a better appearance, straight teeth also helps in good speech and better chewing. Cavities are very likely to grow within crocked teeth that are laden with unnatural spaces. When crooked teeth affect the jaw lines, pain and extreme discomfort may arise.

Orthodontic treatments such as braces and retainers are one effective way of fixing this. Crooked and misaligned teethe is treated by orthodontic treatments which use time and general pressure to correct these. Braces have three parts that cling to each tooth, first of which is the band or bonding that attaches to the tooth bracket and arch wire which is basically a tin metal wire that connects the brackets.

Braces with transparent brackets or ones that can be attached to the back of the teeth can now be availed by many orthodontic patients. Since the days of old, braces have now come a very long way.And after they are removed, the patient will have to use retainers. In keeping teeth in place, a retainer which is a custom made mouth gear is used. They are also known to fix small orthodontic problems. To achieve both good health and beauty, straight and healthy teeth are a must. Knowing how to care for our teeth and more will truly aid us in achieving not only good health but also give reasons to make us smile.

A Phoenix Orthodontist works with children correcting overbite by fitting braces. Whilst it is not always necessary to have braces fitted the aim is to improve the positioning of the teeth. If this positioning can be done without braces then this will prevent the necessity of having to have braces fitted. There are many different kinds of braces that can be fitted by a Phoenix Orthodontist. There are metal, plastic and other materials that need bonding to the teeth. Braces can feel uncomfortable at first, but should settle down after a few days.

Next a bracket is applied using a dental grade cement. The cement is cured under a light that helps to set and harden it completely. An arch-wire is then threaded through the brackets and fixed in place with colored elastic or metal bands that help to close open bites, move the mid-line and pull the teeth and jaws firmly into the right position.

Once the brace is fitted it then requires adjusting at specific times. The braces will require adjusting at frequent time periods to help force the teeth into the correct place. Once they are adjusted, the rubber bands are then taken out of the mouth. The arch wire is removed, replaced or corrected and put back into the mouth. New rubber bands are then fixed to the metal brackets.

Retainers need to be worn when the braces are taken out to help protect the teeth from relapse, bone and gums often require extra time to stabilize. The time period for wearing the retainers varies according to the way the client responds. Retainers can be moved in and out of the mouth when necessary.

It is usual to feel discomfort when a brace is first fitted for the first few days. Your teeth can also feel sore. The wires, brackets and bands can make the tongue, cheeks or lips irritated. All discomfort should go away within the first few weeks. It’s also normal to suffer from moderate pain when the wires are replaced or adjusted. Pain relief can be prescribed to decrease the discomfort that you experience.

A Phoenix Orthodontist can apply many kinds of braces depending on the clients individual needs. There are many types of different materials and some materials are specifically for those with allergies. Stainless steel is often chosen when a client is allergic to metal. Not only is stainless steel good for allergies it is also lower priced and more rugged. For more information about specific braces consult your Orthodontist.

We have listened to so many tragic stories from people getting bad experiences while undergoing plastic surgery. These are very sad stories to find out.

Medical professionals are expected to follow the measures but as we all know in each industry there are always good ones and bad ones. Thus patients are hoped to take responsibilities for themselves as well. Patients must know what are the things they should be looking at before getting any surgery. Below are some of the points you can focus on before undergoing a plastic surgery.

1. Pick out a licensed professional. It is critical that you make sure that the professional who will do your surgery is a certified one and is specializing in the operation you are seeking. This gives you the assurance that the doctor has taken right training and necessary skills.

2. Set your goals clearly. When planning to go for a plastic or cosmetic surgery you have to specify what your sought results are and examine carefully if these are attainable. This will give you a good picture of what to anticipate once the surgery is complete and thus avoid dissatisfaction.

3. Make sure your in good shape. To attain best results, your body must be in good condition. As the procedures always involve minor operations, you will be able to bounce back quicker if your body responds well.

4. Don’t expose yourself to toxins. Before and after undergoing any cosmetic or plastic surgery you have to stop endangering yourself from damaging toxins that can impact the result of the method you are taking. Smoking and drinking alcohol are some of the activities that can cause complications and hinder the outcome of your surgery.

5. Investigate. It is best that you ask your doctor for cases of surgeries that he has already done which are related to the operation you want to take on. If your doctor is confident enough, he will be more than willing to show and tell you about his experiences.

6. Check the prices. This step is essential. You have to have an estimate of the cost of the procedure you want to get. First of all you will be able to gauge if the procedure is within your budget. Second, you will be able to compare the prices among the clinics offering the procedure you want. You have to think twice about taking very cheap surgeries as these maybe indicating the competency level of the doctor who will cover the operations.

7. Study. Study the risks that come with the procedure you want to take. As you know yourself better, you know your limitations and you know how much pain you can take.

For now, all the best to your plastic or cosmetic surgery efforts.
